Women are the biggest consumers and make most of the decisions around food choices, cleaning products, and clothing in the home. But, ironically, they are not in the forefront of the current green movement initiatives. The BIBO Awards are filling that gap by bringing recognition and awareness to the hard-working, unsung female heroes who are championing the cause of sustainable living, sustainable eating, and other green focused advances.
Honoree Annamaria Leon was the FIRST woman to receive the Reflection Award trophy for her efforts in the green movement at BIBO Awards Chicago 2015 on October 3, 2015. Annamaria Leon received her trophy for Outstanding Permaculturist. By definition a permaculturist is: a person who uses or nurtures a system of cultivation intended to maintain permanent agriculture or horticulture by relying on renewable resources and a self-sustaining ecosystem.Annamaria gave an insightful, yet humbling acceptance speech on the need for permanent agriculture systems and her deep-felt appreciation for receiving the Reflection Award trophy for her efforts.
This category is expected to grow and expand in 2016 as the BIBO Awards introduces the Green-Minded Woman program and the Green Glam Rocks! event.
